News just broke that TVPad wlill be shutting down service for TVPad 1 - 3 in the up coming days. (Seems like they have already done so)

http://tvpadnews.com/2015/12/18/breaking-news-tvpad-to-officially-shutdown-tvpad-1-3-on-jan-1st-2016/
http://tvpadtalk.ca/1/3388/_subject_

Based on this court document the TVPad parent company had made quite a profit from selling TVPad 1-3 over the last 3/4 years. - http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/sites/default/files/custom/Documents/ESQ/TVPad_Korea_ruling.pdf
The calculation further assumes 81,217 TVPad units sold based on the number of unique IP addresses identified by the expert’s
networking report.

They are obviously looking for another payday from the TVPad upgrade sales. Although I have a theory why they are doing this...

I have been using this service since TVPad 1 came out and had purchase multiple units throughout the years. I'm sure I'm not the only one that had done so as well. I think a lot of us had purchased this device because of the promise of "free lifetime TV"...

The way they duped and treating their old customers is not right and we (as a TVPad user need speak up and tell their upper management).

I have drafted a rough email detailing as such.
??? TVPa??d ??????,

???????Tvpad 1, Tvpad 2, Tvpad 3 ????????.

?????Tvpad ?????. ??????????????TVPad. ?????????????TVPad

???????????
Tvpad ?????

Translation:
Dear TVPAd upper management,

I am not satisfy with your plan of shutting down TVPad 1, 2 ,3.

I am a loyal user of TVPad, but after this incident I will stop using and boycott TVPad. I will tell me friend to stop buying TVPad

Please reconsider your plan.

Sincerely Loyal TVPad User

For those who can write Chinese, please do modify and correct whatever needed is in my draft. I am hoping we could gather enough legacy TVPad users and blast their mailbox at once.

I understand that it probably won't do much but it is better than nothing.

So please tell you friends and family that also have TVPad to join this and get our deserved service back!

It seems that a free or minimal fee upgrade to TVpad 4 might be in order here for TVpad to avoid class action

There are alternatives now that rival tvpad. I have 7tvpads from versions 1-4. I'll go the whatever is the cheapest and troublefree way to upgrade. No brand loyalty here.

I guess we'll have to see what develops over the next few days.
If TVpad pulls the plug on version 1-3 and only support TVpad 4,
what's going to happen when TVpad 5 comes out?

what's more interesting is that according to the email http://tvpadtalk.ca/1/3388 it states upgrade using MAC address to get discount, however as far as I know their trade-in site mtvpad.com domain name have been taken down on godaddy with courtorder. so what gives?

I think the best way to deal with this is to look for other alternative for tvpad. Why keep beating a dead horse?

well, that is correct, however, my main purpose for TVPAD was to watch Korean channels, as far as Korean Channels are concerned there aren't that many choice. can either go moonbox, or tvbox (tvpad4 korean) rather get some discount while upgrading.

Im sure we can count on they can/will do whatever they want to cash in until they know there is a risk. Im sure they will soon they will say T4 hardware is too slow and you will need to do T5 next year or what not. Can we do more by just sending letters or just better go with no-brand tv boxes? Any branded boxes might eventually going to same way as tvpad forcing user to upgrades?

    Hi Mr.Padman

Please made a E-mail link to Tvpad to let everybody can sign complain and attach the protest letter

Don't give a dime to TVpad unless the upgrade is free.
I don't mind TVpad to change its business model like monthly fee based (e.g US$5 a month) with free h/w in the future. If they close the the business the viewers just suffer one month fee. No way I can trust TVpad with upfront purchase.

In fact, my borther-in-law has a TVpad 4 which is not working after upgraded to 5.06. Call TVpad and they promise to make a refund within 3 weeks, one month is past and nothing happen.

    I have a TVpad 3 and I won't upgrade to 4 with a fee. Period

It's time to look for alternative or just VPN to Hong Kong to watch TVB at its site.

TVPAD not only steal the money from my old man, also take away his enjoyments/feelings. That is how BUSINESS and MORALITY in LIFE
And to DISK NETWORK / TVB - thinking about - with all old folks in China town around the world, Chinese channels are their daily holding on and keeping their life more colorful. With monthly service, how they going to pay when they don't have job or unable to work. Instead of doing charity thing to make you look good. Why don't you have free program for elderly around the world? Thanks for reading.

    And more -
TVB - the more you calling for "COPY RIGHT" and more cost in service, that mean encourage more people use "COPIED ONE".

For younger folks, i.e. under 65 years old, switch to desktop box like moon box and xiaomi box 3. They can watch everything the tvpad offer and 30 times more. You can add more apps - KODI is the best app you can add to the Android type of boxes. Some of them cost around $150 canadian. The reason I said the boxes are for the younger folks because the boxes do need a little bit more clicking around to get to what one wants. But once one gets used to the clicking around, it is pretty easy anyway.
