There is also the TVB Americas app as well which was made by another company for TVB USA that got replaced by the above app but TVB Americas still works.

I tried the encoreTVB app but found their commercial is too long. Most of times you have to watch 30+ seconds commercials before anything happens.

    Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.quickplay.tvbmytv

iOS: https://itunes.apple.com/hk/app/mytv/id399882590?mt=8 (needs to sign on to HK Apple store. I don't know about the other 2)

    Windows: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/store/apps/mytv/9wzdncrfjb2g

Probably needs VPN to watch them if you are not in HK.

I bought a chromecast on Black Friday only US$25.00 (original $35). You may control all on your phone/tablet/pc and watch on TV. Then I downloaded Vchannel app. and add channel : http//rss.m03.com/channels and save. You may watch all series from China/Hong Kong/Taiwan/Korea and Japanese.

I don't understand why all people are crazy to find the way to solve TVPad problems. This is a easy way and save money method. Just try it and don't buy any whatever TV Box anymore. They will discontinue sooner or later and don't waste the money.......

Because it's not convenient for elderly people. That's the main selling point of tvpad.

My parents could barely use a smartphone without me constantly reminding them how to do certain task.

Sure if your folks are good with techs then go for it...

This selling point is main key for tvpad for stealing the money from tvpad users. Chromecast is a simply way to operate. Once you teach the elder people several times , I guarantee they will know how to use it. You cannot stay with them 24 hours. Don't forget when the time we did not tvpad, what did they watch....vhs and dvd player. They could operate by themselves and enjoyed without us. My parent are over 80 years old and they can operate by themselves why the other elder people cannot do it. Unless you are from tvpad side, that's why you stand on their side and speak for them.

I dont find chromecast to be easy besides (subjective) can't use it for all the apps. Guess if you teach elderly how to use vchannel than also to teach them how to use chrome cast. Than also explain that not all apps are supported by chrome cast and that vchannel list may change more frequently than J you may hope so might need to teach that as well. Tvpad was easy simple that any one could pick it up and start watching. Just needed initial hook up to TV and parents were happy. Before tvpad? Was paying $30 additionally to cable fee to get three Korean channel and VOD was setup through laptop, which taught them how to use few times, they followed well until one small thing changed like location of icon or looks or what ever they couldn't make it work and set it aside. Some parents will just say everything is working fine cause they don't want to trouble their kids. Always better to find something that's easy for them to use and easy to troubleshoot

If those free apps don't have ads, using chrome cast or Airplay would have been easier. Trying to dismiss those ads with their tiny check box for me wasn't that easy without actually hitting the ad. Try to get your parents to do that is almost impossible.

The paid SlingTV's app wasn't that great either. It was a pain to navigate and pay $30 monthly fee for it? What a joke.

I wish the vchannel app can be more user friendly. It is very difficult to use it with a remote control, and there is no way to stop or fast forward the video unless you do it with a mouse. Also, many videos are divided by multiple parts which add the difficulty of navigating this app. For sure my parents have no problem using this app, but after playing it a few times they just put it aside because they don't like the overall experience of this app.

May be worth investing into a wireless mouse or kb/mouse combo

I don't just watch VOD. I want live streaming from TVB and other TV channels. The Vchannel does not have live stream for news etc. The news available are behind and is VOD only.
