need help on HTV5 A2 非凡電視

I got the box from the official site. I downloaded installed 非凡電視 and Youtube from the shortcuts that came with the box. Youtube works fine so the internet part is good. But 非凡電視 does not seem to be able to connected to the server for me. When I tried different Hong Kong TV channels or other country channels, it looks like trying to connect with the screen showing 2xx KB/s inside a circle. Eventually it would time out after a couple minutes or so and give an error code (e.g. ERC_7) and ask to change channel.

When I contacted their CHAT support and explained the issue, they seemed to think it's my internet speed being too slow. That's before I tried YouTube this morning.

I wonder if anyone had similar issues getting 非凡電視 running and if you can share your experience or pointers to resolve this issue. Thanks!

  • Forget about 非凡電視. The channels on that app are very limited, and the server that hosts the channels is slow.

Use FZZ-TV611 app instead. Much higher quality broadcast:

Thanks for the link to FZZ-TV611. It is a great app, especially for those that have small children since it provides DISNEY JUNIOR and CARTOON NETWORK. I am not frustrated now.

In a nutshell, it was an internet speed issue that kept my A2 box from connecting to 非凡電視 even though the same wifi works on Amazon Prime that has a lot more subscribers. Maybe my troubleshooting experience and suggestion would be helpful to some of you later on.

First I tested the wifi internet download speed. It's around 25MB/s. I thought that would be sufficient since HTV chat person said the requirement was 8MB/s. However, on the A2 box while connecting to 非凡電視 showed under 200 kB/s. This apparently was not fast enough for the requirement connection and streaming from their server. My next step was to try the A2 box (wifi enabled) next to the wifi router to give strong signal strength but the speed did not improve. I then used an Ethernet cable directly off the router that got its internet from the cable modem. It then worked flawlessly. But my main TV is downstair while the cable modem/router are upstairs. So I used a powerline adapter to deliver internet service to the A2 box downstairs. It works great. The A2 box routinely shows speed exceeding 500kB/s while connecting to 非凡電視. Apparently such speed keeps the their server happy.

While chatting with HTV, I found it odd that they would not comment if an MAC address would be needed to connect to their server. My A2 box has a number on the back but it does not look like the MAC address sticker with bar codes on TVPAD.
  • Did you contact HTV via their official website live chat (http://www.htvbox.com/)?

Yes, I did. I went through their normal debug process of sending in pictures (via wechat). The wechat lady could only relay my questions and at the mercy of their technical support engineer.

Their website live chat is always offline and their WeChat (htvbox) is a page so there is no way to contact them.

When I contacted their live chat, it was open last week . A lady answered. She went on to ask me to get on Wechat with her directly and she gave me her Wechat ID.

  • I accidentally uninstalled two apps from my htv5 box. Anyone have links where I can download these cantonese apps https://goo.gl/images/DjWZqf. I am looking for the 1st one on the first row and also the 3rd one on the 3rd row (orange icon).

    Thanks
