I guess you can let us know the rate so whoever is willing to pay you (via paypal as example), you can send them the dns entry via email. I have both tvpad 1 and 4 so will it work for 4 as well?

I'll test it out on my TVPad 4 later today.

Well I don't want to make this as a pay per use server. As I don't want to get sued lol :X.

But if someone is interested in a private server, I'm open to that idea as well.

    Yeah, I have TvPad 1 & 4 as well.
This server will benefit users on TvPad 1/2/3 the most.
TvPad 4 now has 2 apps that run on auto DNS : YueTV & 36TV that covers 70% of user's needs for streaming media.

@Padman, how are you going to prevent paid users sharing the DNS address to others? I am willing to pitch (money or other resource) for this project since I benefited so much from this forum.
Please PM me if you want to discuss this offline.

    Thanks.

Great idea!! Anyway to make it private like how clubtvpad ran it? As you can see fron my posts, I don't mind helping out for Free but some people don't even take the time to do a simple search or say Thank You. PM if you want to chat privately. Keep in mind, clubtvpad was in part of the lawsuit but I think that was because they were selling TVpads as well. They might of settled with TVPad if they volunteered to shut the site. The "donation" will not be used for the DNS...it will be used to run this forum.

    I can't. That's why it's crowd sourced. :)o

This is going to lead to a lot of headaches. Easier for each to set up their own servers. It is not that hard. Maybe share a video for each VPN provider to help people who are interested.

Well, I don't oppose the idea if you have a group of people who want to share the cost and use it as a private server.

But for the interest for the Patreon page, the only way for me to not get sued is to leave it public. As I don't want to leave an impression that I'm selling a service.

I know people are auctioning off Free coupons and are charging for the time to clip them on Ebay.

Nothing I could do if that's the case.

    It's either

    A) The crowd get together and get a server up
    or
    B) Small group of people get a private server

Whether it is A or B, I'm not looking to sell a DNS service.

There's no point for them to block off DNS requests.

I have some questions. First, if TVPAD server in U.S. was turned off / shut down, how would alternate DNS, servers, VPN help? I may be wrong, but I'm guessing DNS changes only affect the TVPAD box itself (TVPAD store and updates to O/S) and not apps. The rest are 3rd party apps that connect based on what's written in the app. That would explain why some apps work OK, some don't work at all and some are only partly working. Changing the DNS in the box would not appear to really affect the apps unless you don't get the first three green checks when you test your connection. There are several DNS numbers that will work that far. With those being correct, any widely available app that works elsewhere works on the TVPAD.
In one current sales add, they tell you the box won't work in China because it's blocked.

Here is what made sense to me the most (although nobody knows what's happening behind the scene)

    1) The authentication servers are FQDN and are hardcoded onto each firmware.
    2) Once those FQDN were seized, TVPad's werent' able to authenticate anymore
    3) The oversea server works because they are their own authoritative nameserver so they resolved those seized domains to the proper updated IPs

If you post it publicly what is stopping them from shutting it down? You would need to do it over and over again.
