If you go to Office Depot, pick up a Linksys E1200 ($45.00) and have PIA access, you can follow the below steps to configure you second router. Please ensure you click "Save Settings" button on each page.

Please note that you have your second router connection to your #1 router which is connected to your ISP modem,

1.) Log into the second router. A CD comes with the router. You will need to install that software in a PC. Connect your laptop/pc to the seond router with a wire cable.

2.) PIA will have a difference user name and password for the VPN access. Please make sure you use the VPN login info in the router. Here is the picture

4.) VPN_3_zpsnuzxj9xo.jpg

5.) VPN_4_zpsym7opp9y.jpg

6.) VPN_5_zps4hxqkeb0.jpg

7.) Connect TVPad with #2 router and change the DNS to 49.

8.) Enjoy your shows.

I am newbie. Can I use your method connect my TVPad 3. Can you give me more detail how to set it up. I saw Padman video but I guess it is for TVpad 4. I am not a tech for VPN & network. Hope you don't mind.

The two routers method should work for any Tvpad version. I hope the following steps help.

1.) A cable modem (Comcast/AT&T/etc) should connect to the router #1 internet port on the back.

2.) There should be at least 4 or more non-internet ports on the back of router #1. Use a cable inserts to one of those ports in router #1. Then, on the other end of the cable insert to router #2 internet port.

3.) Go purchase a VPN service. I prefer PIA. It works well for me.

4.) Log into your router #2 by wireless or by wired.

    Then follow above screenshots.

    I hope this helps.

If you have tvpad4 and 5.06 firmware, it will show the box it's restricted whenever you connected to PIA. It started two days ago.

I guess tvpad official is watching this forum.

My L2TP VPN with PIA in Singapore server has not been dropping at all.

The reason your connection is dropping very ofteb because the 119.81.164.42 ip address is for the vpnUnlimited. It is not PIA host server's ip address.

BTW, this is not the way you should set up PIA. They have instructions on their websites to do it correctly.

This works great! I bought this exact router from Staples and connected it following your instructions. But sometimes you have to use other server besides Singapore.

    Thanks for the instructions!!!

    Hey, it works, doesn't it.

There are more ways to skin a pig. If this way is not your cup of tea, you can do whatever right way you want. It is America here.

True. BTW, you don't have to use HK servers. Any servers as long as it is not US works. I tried Swiss and NL and they work great.

Do you need to "flash" software to the router like it mentions on the PIA website?

No, as long as your router can support those connection types. It's fine.

Thanks once again for your guide. Is it possible to setup the router in 1 house and then bring it to another house to use?

Do the server IP address and DNS have to be of the same country?

Can I enter just the server host name without server ip and it still works?

Before setting up the VPN, I was able to use auto network settings. With those settings, ???app ?which I believe is a China app) had high buffer speeds and YueTV was ok.
Now with the PIA VPN setup, either the Singapore server IP address and 49.. DNS, was able to go back to watching ?????? with high buffer speeds, but ??? speeds have been very low. Which server ip and/or DNS should I use to get both HK and China apps at good speeds?

    Thanks.

which router are you talking about? Router 1 or 2?

PIA does not have too many servers as PureVpn. You can try to use the Mexico, Japan or Romainia servers.

Don't forget to click the disconnect and connect button after changing the server IP address screenshot #6

This is about router #2, the VPN router.

Tried just for fun setting manual DNS to 0.0.0.0, unexpectedly, ?????? buffer was even faster than using 49...

Now just have to figure out how to get my ??? to higher buffer speeds as well.

If you take the router 2 to other house and act as router 2, and it will work fine without changing anything.

You can also use a DNS from China. There is a list of China server DNS numbers.

I have the Linksys E1200 so I guess I will just follow the instructions above and see how it goes. Thanks

I had tried the very first DNS from that China list and speed still slow. I'll try the others when I have time.

What does server ip do and what does dns do, that they can be from different countries?
